Feodosia – Crimea’s secret.

Feodosia is on the southwest coast of Crimea. Feodosia has a population of about 60,000, and is located 2 hours drive from Simferopol.
Few Westerners venture out to this corner of Crimea, and it can be a very rewarding place to visit.

Feodosia is a port town year round but very much a resort in summer; as its boardwalk comes to life and open-air bars and restaurants spring up along it. There is a decent beach here, and this part of Crimea gets the most annual sunshine.

An ancient town stretching back to Greek times, In the early 1900′s Feodosia became one of the prominent sea ports of the Russian empire, and a significant trade and economic centre of the Black sea. This is evident in the old town, where a large number of mansions can be seen that belonged to the wealthy. Feodosia is dotted with monuments of its ancient past, and has a large number of Communist statues in its centre.

By staying in Feodosia you will have easy access to many fantastic day trips. There is much to do and see in this part of the Crimea. From here you can visit Novy Svet, and taste its delicious champagne. You can take a trip to the Kara Dag national park, where you can see fantastic and unusual rock formations, or pop round the corner to the lively and hedonistic resort of Koktebel.
