Women in Ukraine
Women in Ukraine One could write books about women in Ukraine and Crimea. Then, I suppose, that is the same for women in any country. There are a large number of distinct differences between women in Ukraine and Crimea, and women in the West, and I dont just mean their appearance and dress, but also their inner world.
Chivalry is alive and well in Ukraine and Crimea. Men are subject to a strict code of behaviour, and lest they stray from it. A few examples of the women in Ukraine code are as follows: The man lets the women through the doorway first, whilst if necessary holding it open. The woman enters the bus first, but the man exists first and then extends his hand to help her off.The man assists the women in taking off and putting on her coat. Heavy bags are not a shared responsibility - that's the mans job.The man must not be late for a date, but the woman can be late! The man is expected to foot the bill for meals out, taxis etc. The man is expected to take the initiative, (concerning, for instance, choosing a meeting place for a date) and not to ask the woman to make a decision. The man must make sure the woman gets home at night. That means either taking her all the way to the door if by bus, or arranging her a taxi. The man should regularly give romantic gifts to the women such as flowers.
Whereas in the western culture men and women in many aspects act and very similarly, the difference in behaviour between the men and women in Ukraine and Crimea is more marked. In Ukraine and Crimea, the differences between the sexes are celebrated. Men want women to be real women, and women want men to be real men. This entails the following: Men like their women in Ukraine and Crimea to be feminine, devoted and attractive. The women like their men to be strong, courageous, polite and chivalrous, and preferably, not too drunk. They like to feel protected by their man.
Generally, women in Ukraine and Crimea have a positive relationship with exterior beauty. Beauty here is not scorned or envied, but praised and revered. It seems to me that women in Ukraine and Crimea spend more time looking at each other than at the men, mentally comparing notes regarding their hairstyles and clothes, with the aim of constantly improving their own appearance. Women in Ukraine and Crimea spend a significant amount of their money on clothes and beauty salons, and not because they think they should do, but usually because they genuinely want to. It's a pleasure for them, not a chore. Women in Ukraine and Crimea aspire to be beautiful and like nothing more than dressing up in the best gear, doing up their hair, and then showing themselves off at a party.
Women in the West tend to be more casual and happy-go-lucky than women in Ukraine and Crimea. To a certain degree, guys can interact with them as much as they would with their male friends; there has been a blurring of gender behaviour roles. Women in Ukraine and Crimea tend to be more serious and would not expect you to interact with them as you do with male friends at the pub. For instance, for many women in Ukraine and Crimea, swearing of any kind is a big no-no, and stories about drunkeness with friends is best kept within those friends!
Women in Ukraine and Crimea tend to be modest and slightly lacking in self-confidence, but loving, devoted and warm-hearted.
Single men who travel to Ukraine and Crimea beware! If you go to an upmarket, expensive club to meet women, then you are likely to meet upmarket and expensive girls. These girls often have very high expectations of you whilst not offering much themselves. The best women in Ukraine are usually found in more modest places; these are the ones who will embody the loving and warm nature of the Slavic women.
