Wine tours

A perfect combination of soil and climatic conditions led Crimea to being one of the principal wine making regions of the Soviet Union. Whilst Crimean wines aren't widely available in the West, they are renounced and very much in demand amongst the ex-Soviet countries. Crimea excels in sweet, dessert wines, although there are a smaller number of dry wines produced here too. The main wine tasting areas in Crimea are in Koktebel near Feodosia, and Massandra ner Yalta. In Massandra you will find an unparalleled collection of wines going right back to some of the 19th century vintages. In Koktebel you will find predominantly dessert wines ranging from ruby ports to fine Madeiras.

We also offer a tour to the 'Sun valley,' which is located near to Sudak in the South East of Crimea. This scenic place is ringed by mountains, and a permanent desert like climate is maintained by dry hot summers, and precipitation of only 200mm a year. Owing to the peculiar local soil and climatic conditions, clones of European varieties, when grown here, acquire new qualities, and the wines made from them feature a new inimitable bouquet and taste. Based on them, a collection of wines under the Maganom label have been developed, which in 3 short years have already been awarded 8 gold medals at prestigious international events.

Wine tours in Crimea: Price for a tour starts at $25 per person.
